Description

Antibacterial agent 220 is a potent antibacterial agent that can directly destroy bacterial cell membranes. Antibacterial agent 220 effectively combats Gram-positive and and Gram-negative pathogens, including drug-resistant strains[1].

In Vitro

Antibacterial agent 220 (compound 43), which has a longer hydrophobic chain, exhibited potent antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive bacteria (MICs of 0.78-1.56 μg/mL) and Gram-negative bacteria (MIC of 6.25 μg/mL) and poor hemolytic activity (HC50 > 200 μg/mL). Antibacterial agent 220 shows MIC values of 1.56 μg/mL, 0.78 μg/mL, 0.78 μg/mL, and 6.25 μg/mL for S. aureus ATCC29213, MRSA N315, MRSA NCTC10442, and E. coli ATCC25922, respectively[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Antibacterial agent 220 (compound 43; 0.5%; applied topically to the infected murine corneas) exhibits a strong in vivo antibacterial efficacy in a murine corneal infection model[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: 6-8 weeks old mice (C57BL6) bearing bacterial cells (S. aureus ATCC29213)[1]
Dosage: 0.5%
Administration: Applied topically to the infected murine corneas; four times, with an interval of about 2 h; for three consecutive days
Result: Exhibited a strong in vivo antibacterial efficacy.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
